I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, except for three years when I lived in Strasbourg, France. I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1991 and stayed there until 2008. During that time, I acquired a Bachelor's Degree in History from The Colorado College, a Master's Degree also from CC, met and married my wife, had two children, and taught 12 years in Colorado public schools. I moved to Berlin, Germany in 2008 to teach at Berlin Brandenburg International School. I have been in Moscow since August 18th, and I am very excited about living here and working at AAS.
My family is immensely important to me, especially since the concept of home is ambulatory right now. My wife, Karen, teaches grade five at AAS right down the hallway from my classroom. My daughter, Isabelle, is just a little further down the hallway in Mr. Cameron's fifth-grade class. My son, Addison, is in grade seven. We are in the process of interviewing dogs to fill the position of household pet, and we hope to have the position filled by early next week.
I love any athletic activity and am especially fond of those that involve a ball of some sort. I've played tennis since I was ten, golf since I was in high school, soccer since I was seven, basketball since I could walk, and I do what I can to stay active throughout the year. I also love to read, although I find that I don't have nearly enough time for that particular endeavor. Sometimes the hardest thing is making time for sitting with a good book. I travel as much as I can, and we managed to hit 15 different countries in the last two years. We're always looking for new and exciting places to visit, so if you have any thoughts or suggestions on where we should go next, please let me know.
I love working with children. I appreciate their insights, their outlook, and being invited into their worlds on a daily basis. I think I have the best job in the world, and I look forward to coming to work every day, even on those days when it's hard to get out of bed when the alarm clock goes off. I'm very excited about my new school, my new classroom, and my new students. It's going to be a great year!
